Albuquerque Psychiatry & Psychology is an outpatient group of therapists.

Since 1967, APP has offered outstanding outpatient behavioral health care. Our clinic offers psychotherapy from a multitude of experienced practitioners including Clinical Psychologists, Counselors, Therapists and Social Workers.

Collectively, we work with individuals of all ages, from elementary school to end of life, as well as couples and families. Our providers employ long and short term approaches and offer a wide range of treatment modalities and specialized approaches.

We support and collaborate with each other and look forward to supporting you as you move ahead with your goals.

“One of our most important tools is the relationship we develop with you. Research has shown again and again that this relationship - between therapist and client - is often one of the most important factors in healing.”

FAQs

1. The practice of therapy or counseling can result in a number of benefits to you in addition to a possible resolution of the concerns that led you to us. Sometimes progress is fast but more often it can be slow and sometimes painful. You may become angry, depressed, anxious, or feel challenged. You may be asked to question long-held beliefs and behaviors. This is normal. Don’t give up, even if you feel discouraged. Instead, take the opportunity to discuss each of your concerns with your therapist as they arise.

2. Therapists often utilize several therapeutic “techniques” or approaches. But one of our most important tools is the relationship we develop with you. Research has shown again and again that this relationship - between therapist and client - is often one of the most important factors in healing.  Counseling should be an active process - especially for you. This means we will want and encourage your complete participation, honesty and openness.

3. Sessions are between 30-60 minutes. You and your therapist will decide when and how often to meet. If you do not show up for your session, you will be charged $75, unless you provide 24 business hours notice (for Monday appointments it would be the Friday before).

4. Session times vary depending upon need and insurance allotment.  When clients need to speak to their therapist during office hours, an administrative staff will direct calls or take messages.  After hours, an answering service will take messages.

5. Questions about your treatment should be directed to your therapist. Questions about office practices, including insurance and billing should be directed to the APP Office Manager.
